College Basketball Signing Day: Robert Carter To Announce Decision Thursday On ESPNU

One of the state of Georgia's top basketball players is set to announce his college decision on Thursday. Shiloh High School power forward Robert Carter will make his decision around 5 pm in Atlanta. The announcement will be covered by ESPNU. Carter's decision is rumored to be between in-state schools Georgia Tech and Georgia although other schools such as Florida, Florida State and Maryland have also recruited Carter.

After visiting Athens, Carter shared that he had been told by the Bulldogs that he was a top priority. The Bulldogs have signed three wing players so far in their class of 2012 but would also like to add a big man to their frontcourt.

Carter was greeted on his official visit to Georgia Tech by fellow recruits Chris Bolden and Marcus Hunt who signed on with the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. There is a connection between Carter and Tech that may bode well for coach Brian Gregory according to Michael Carvell of the AJC

Tech reportedly has an edge over Georgia for Carter, who has connections with the Yellow Jackets. Carter's AAU basketball coach is Winfred Jordan, whose son, point guard Pierre Jordan, transferred from Florida State to Tech in August and will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Yellow Jackets. Carter has expressed interest in playing with Jordan in college.
