Markeith Cummings sat out Kennesaw State's 68-55 loss to Auburn Monday night for an undisclosed reason. Without its most talented scorer, the Owls' offense sputtered its way to just 33 percent shooting on the night and an 0-2 start to the season.
The Owls trailed 29-20 at halftime but couldn't slice into the lead in the second half due to poor shooting. Aaron Anderson led the way for the Owls with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Spencer Dixon tossed in 11 points but was just 3-18 from the field and 2-7 from three point range. Nick Turner chipped in 10 points off the bench for the Owls who combined to hit just 5-19 from beyond-the-arc.
Frankie Sullivan led all scorers with 22 points for Auburn. Rob Chubb also finished in double figures with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Kennesaw State will continue their road trip to begin the season with a trip to Chattanooga Tennessee for a match up with the Mocs on Friday.
