Markeith Cummings Suspended Indefinitely By Kennesaw State

Kennesaw State announced today that leading scorer and Atlantic Sun preseason Player of the Year Markeith Cummings has been suspended indefinitely by the team for conduct detrimental.

Cummings was on the bench for Monday's 68-55 loss to Auburn but did not play in the game. The Owls confirmed that whatever led to Cummings' suspension happened prior to the game.

Cummings led the Atlantic Sun in scoring last season with an 18.3 points per game average. He scored 18 points in Kennesaw State's season opening loss to Wisconsin.

The suspension puts the Owls in a difficult spot. Lewis Preston has coached just two games for the Owls and has already had to suspend his best player in the middle of a difficult stretch of games to start the season. Kennesaw State travels to Chattanooga on Friday to conclude its three game road trip to start the season.

Without Cummings in the lineup, the Owls struggled offensively shooting just 33 percent from the field.
