The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fell behind early against the VCU Rams and trailed 31-23 at the half. However everything changed once the second half began as Georgia Tech took their first lead of the second half by going out on a 16-7 run to lead 39-38 and would never relinquish that lead. Georgia Tech would outscore VCU 50-29 in the second half to win 73-60.
Georgia Tech had five players in double figures and were led by Glen Rice, Jr. who came of the bench and led all scorers with 19 points as well as hauling in eight rebounds. The lone VCU player in double figures was Bradford Burgess who had 17 points. The VCU offense which had a good first half went cold in the second half as they were relying very much on the three-point shot but that was not falling as they went 9-of-25 from beyond the arc. Overall they shot 18-of-36 from the field compared to Georgia Tech's 30-of-59 and that was ultimately the difference in this game.
