Georgia Vs. Xavier: Bulldogs Set For First Road Test

Mark Fox's Georgia basketball squad split a pair of games earlier this week in the CBE Classic in Kansas City. The Bulldogs were soundly defeated by California on Monday but rebounded on Tuesday with a victory over Notre Dame to take third place in the tournament.

Thursday night, Georgia faces its first true road game in an opponent's gym when it takes on the Xavier Musketeers at the Cintas Center. Xavier has won its first three games of the season and is ranked No. 12 in the country. Gerald Robinson Jr and Dustin Ware have the difficult job of trying to slow down Xavier's backcourt combination of Mark Lyons and Tu Holloway. Lyons is averaging 20.3 points per game through the first three games while Holloway is scoring at a 16.3 per game clip.

Mark Fox shook up his starting lineup against Notre Dame opting to bring Robinson off the bench with Vincent Williams getting the start. We will see if Fox sticks with that plan tonight or whether Robinson returns to the starting lineup.

The Bulldogs have to be pleased with the early play of freshman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Nemanja Djurisic. Caldwell-Pope is leading the team in scoring at 13.2 per game and scored 16 against Notre Dame. Djurisic is averaging nine points and three rebounds while shooting 56 percent from the field through the Bulldogs' first five games.

Tip off for Thursday's game is scheduled for 8 pm and will be televised by Fox Sport South.
