Georgia Football Injury Update: Mike Gilliard, DeAngelo Tyson Uncertain For Bowl Game

With the Georgia Bulldogs wrapping up on-campus practices for the 2011 Outback Bowl Tuesday, the injury status of a few of their players is still unclear:

 Marc Weiszer
Richt uncertain if DE DeAngelo Tyson & LB Mike Gilliard will play in Outback Bowl. P Drew Butler expected to play. All w/ ankle injuries.

Gilliard, a 6'2 220 junior LB, started 11 games for Georgia this year, with 64 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 INT, and was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week after the Tennessee game.

Tyson, a 6'2 306 senior DE, has 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks this season, despite missing the last four games with the same ankle injury.

Butler, a 6'2 215 senior punter, has been one of the Bulldogs' most consistent performers all season, booting 51 punts for a net average of 44.3 yards.

The Outback Bowl will be the last game of Tyson and Butler's college careers, so you would expect that they would make every effort to get themselves ready to play on Jan. 2.
