Georgia Vs. Mercer Final Score: Bulldogs Use Big Second Half To Defeat Bears, Win 72-58

The Georgia Bulldogs struggled in the first half against the Mercer Bears as the two schools were tied up at 30 apiece at intermission, but something clicked in the second half as Georgia outscored Mercer 42-28 to win by a final score of 72-58. After trailing for a good portion of the first half, Georgia came out strong to begin the second half by going on a 16-3 run to put the game out of reach for Mercer early in the second half.

Georgia did struggle to show the ball well this evening as they shot 40 percent from the field and only 65 percent from the free throw line, but their defense held Mercer to 40 percent from the field. The Georgia defense also had eight steals and forced 12 turnovers compared to Georgia only turning the ball over six time. Georgia clamped down their defensive effort by holding Mercer to only six points in the final nine minutes of the game.

Georgia had three players in double figures tonight with guard Gerald Robinson leading all players with 20 points. Robinson also scored 10 of his 20 points in the last six minutes of game to put an end to any comeback from Mercer.
