Ryan Mallett could be one of the first two quarterbacks selected in the 2011 NFL Draft, but he's going to need a solid Sunday of workouts and some excellent one-on-one team interviews to make up for an uncomfortable Saturday media session. Repeatedly asked about the multiple rumors that his heavy use of illegal drugs kept him from declaring for the 2010 draft, Mallett brushes the question away each time, which of course only makes the media want to press harder.
A sampling:
Outside of that video, he was asked at least two more times during the session about the rumors, eventually walking away from the podium as a reporter attempted to ask yet again. He apparently fared much better in individual interviews with teams, but that whole public interview is going to leave a weird impression on many.
He's also asked at one point about what it was like playing for a coach whose NFL career "didn't work out." So to speak.
