VIDEO: Nick Fairley On Cam Newton's Draft Status At NFL Combine Media Interview

Nick Fairley is set to work out tomorrow at the NFL Combine with his defensive linemen brethren, though he did weigh in today at six-foot-three and 291 pounds, opting not to participate in the bench press. He spoke with media members about his reputation and whether the Carolina Panthers should pick him over Auburn teammate Cam Newton in the 2011 NFL Draft:

“Is that a trick question?”

Fairley says he looks forward to showing NFL team front office personnel what a “great person” he is off the field, which I guess means spearing otherwise-occupied general managers in the dead of the spine, then strutting about it? I’m not sure.

He’s asked whether he takes plays off — hadn’t quite heard that one. If there’s any complaint to be made about Fairley, I really don’t think it’s that he doesn’t play hard enough. Quite the contrary. He also explains why it took him some time to adjust from his JUCO career to be able to make an impact at Auburn.
