Tim Tebow, Steve Spurrier Statues To Be Unveiled At Florida Spring Game

Countering Alabama's practice of handing out statues to all 42 coaches who've brought home national titles, the Florida Gators plan to erect statues of Heisman Trophy winners Tim Tebow, Steve Spurrier, and Danny Wuerrful. The Gainesville Sun's Edward Aschoff says they'll go up at halftime of Florida's spring game*, scheduled for April 9.

* You may wonder why I didn't put this post in that SEC spring game stream, since Alabama's Nick Saban statue is in there. The answer is long and confusing, involving references to basketball tournaments. Seriously! No, I'm really not joking!

The most reliable jokes for each statue, for your convenience:

Tebow's statue will have a halo, but its stigmata tears will just be regular ole sad tears. (This joke will be best employed at any function involving fans of teams Tebow regularly demolished.) The Spurrier statue, clutching a banquet beer, will have at least one eye angled toward the Florida golf team's practice facility. The Wuerrful statue will simply be placed on the Spurrier statue's shoulders.
