A.J. Green Could Be 2011 NFL Draft No. 1 Pick, According To Team Scouts

Georgia Bulldogs WR A.J. Green has been slipping on many 2011 NFL mock draft boards after a NFL Combine surpassed by Julio Jones’ and a largely unseen pro day. But — believe it or not! — NFL team scouts don’t really go by mock draft boards.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted Green could be the “top-rated” player in the 2011 draft after speaking with “seven personnel men.”

Every year it’s interesting to see publication draft boards fluctuate like wild as nothing is actually happening on the field. The film is in the can — the only things that can really change draft stock at this point are major workout or interview surprises or owners electing to involve themselves in the process a la the Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders. Sure, scouting is still ongoing, but I’m talking about things that would actually change the course of a team’s draft strategy.

Either way, it’s hard to believe there’s a player in this class more talented than Green.
