The SEC dominated the 2011 NFL Draft results list whether it seemed like it or not, turning out both quality and quantity. The conference sent 38 players to the next level, three more than the second-place ACC and seven more than the Pac-10, including five of the first six and the No. 1 overall, Cam Newton.
The Georgia Bulldogs and LSU Tigers tied for the conference high with six picks each. Close behind were the Alabama Crimson Tide (five), followed by the Auburn Tigers (four), Mississpi St. Bulldogs (four), Florida Gators (four) Arkansas Razorbacks (three), Tennessee Volunteers (two), South Carolina Gamecocks (two), Mississippi Rebels (one) and Kentucky Wildcats (one). Only the Vanderbilt Commodores weren't able to send anybody to the pros this time around. Vandy is loadin' up for next year!
Following Newton in the top 10 were Marcell Dareus, A.J. Green, Julio Jones and Patrick Peterson. Even the conference's seeming losers made out just fine -- Ryan Mallett plunged all the way to round three due to always-popular "character concerns," where he landed a chance to succeed Tom Brady if he wants it bad enough.
