Georgia Tech's Iman Shumpert and Georgia's Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie will be among the 54 players that will participate in the 2011 NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. The event will be held on May 18-22 at the Attack Athletics facility and will be run by famed trainer Tim Grover. The combine is a critical process for a lot of the draft hopefuls as SB Nation's Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside points out. Schroeder points out that 48 of the 53 players that participated in the combine last year were either drafted or played in the NBA this season.
Players at the camp won't be actively participating in any five on five action. They will however be participating in basketball related drills as well as going through medical and athletic testing. NBA teams will also be conducting plenty of interviews with the players attending the camp.
Draft Express has Duke point guard Kyrie Irving at the top of its latest 2011 Mock Draft. Draft Express also has Travis Leslie going at pick No. 25 to the Boston Celtics and his Georgia teammate at No. 29 to the San Antonio Spurs. They also project Georgia Tech guard Iman Shumpert to be drafted in the 2nd round at No. 34 overall to the Washington Wizards.
