South Carolina Vs. UVA Baseball Final Score: Cocks Top Cavs, Which Is Fun To Say

The No. 1 overall seed Virginia Cavaliers were sent to the losers bracket at the hands of the 2010 champion South Carolina Gamecocks, who delivered a 7-1 Round 2 beatdown of the Cavs. Carolina will thus have free time until Friday night, letting it reset its pitching staff and rest up for either the California Golden Bears or a UVa rematch. Those two will play Thursday night.

The Cocks scrambled to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, tacking on two in the fourth. Colby Holmes and John Taylor constructed eight-and-two-thirds innings of five-hit ball before Matt Price came on to close. Adrian Morales led the way on offense for Carolina, turning in three hits.

The Cavs trotted out six pitchers in the game, with starter Will Roberts sent to the pine after three and two-thirds innings.
