South Carolina Baseball Still Down 1-0 To Florida In CWS Final Game 1

Through five, the Florida Gators hold a 1-0 lead on the South Carolina Gamecocks thanks to an imposing start by Hutson Randall. He's giving up only two hits and no walks while fanning five. USC starter Forrest Koumas hasn't been quite as masterful, giving up a run in the third thanks in part to a wild pitch, but he's holding his own.

Koumas found himself in some trouble in the bottom of the fifth, however. Brian Johnson reached first base with nobody out, followed by a Josh Adams sacrifice bunt to put a man in scoring position -- the 12th successful sac by Adams on the year.

Tyler Thompson, who scored Florida's first run, struck out to provide Koumas with hope of making it through the inning. Thompson disputed until coach Kevin O'Sullivan lobbied for a review, which showed that Thompson had made contact. Carolina coach Ray Tanner then had a word. Baseball is fun.

Thompson then popped out, as did Daniel Pigott.
