On Wednesday, the Georgia Stars knocked off the defending champion Team Takeover who had been undefeated in EYBL competition for the last two years. The Stars Jaron Blossomgame, a Clemson commit, sealed the game with a free throw late giving the Stars the victory. The game featured five of the ESPNU Top 100 players in the nation and was played in front of a packed house of spectators and college coaches.
Milton High standout Tony Parker is the big name for the Stars but forward Alex Poythress is improving his stock daily with some solid performances in the tournament. The 6-foot-8 power forward hails from Northeast High School in Clarksville TN. He has reportedly received offers from Florida, Tennessee, Memphis among others.
The Georgia Stars can clinch the top seed in Pool A with a win in their final game of pool play this morning against the 1-3 Houston Hoops. The Stars are 3-1 in the tournament dropping their only game to Athletes First on a controversial play where a foul was called on a three-point attempt with just 0.8 left to play in the game with the score tied.
The 2011 Nike Peach Jam championship game will be televised on ESPNU Friday at 7p.m.
