Nike Peach Jam 2011: Shaq Goodwin Impressive In Victory Over Georgia Stars

Southwest Dekalb's Shaq Goodwin continues to cement his status as one of the the states top basketball prospects. Today in the Nike Peach Jam he helped lift the Mempis YOMCA team past the Georgia Stars 78-64 and into the tournament final with a 29 point and 12 rebound performance. Even more impressive was the fact that Goodwin was going head to head with other top prospects Tony Parker and Alex Poythress. 

Parker was saddled with foul trouble throughout the contest and finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Marcus Hunt finished with 19 points but was just 6-20 from the field. Jarron Blossomgame logged a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds while Poythress also chipped in 11 points. 

Goodwin led four Memphis players in double figures with his 29 points. Anthlon Bell finished with 15 points with all coming on three-point baskets. Jarnell Stokes finished with 12 points and 17 rebounds while Martavious Newby chipped in 10 points. 

The victory secures Memphis spot in tonight's championship game that will be televised on ESPNU starting at 7 p.m.
