The 2012, 2013 and 2014 Georgia Bulldogs recruiting classes each got boosts at Friday's Dawg Night, with the upcoming crop receiving the most potent boost. Jacksonville OT John Theus, brother of 2010 Dawg Night commit Nathan Theus, became the first five-star to commit to UGA for next season.
According to Rivals, Theus is the second-ranked tackle in the nation and the seventh-ranked player overall. As you'd expect, he already had offers from a couple dozen schools. Among players who've already committed, he's ranked behind only Florida State commit Mario Edwards.
The Dawgs also picked up four commits for future classes -- 2013 WR Tramel Terry, QB Brice Ramsey and RB Derrick Henry plus 2014 RB Stanley Williams. Gentry Estes has quick writeups and reactions on each.
Considering the transition Georgia has seen along its offensive line this offseason, from the graduation of Clint Boling to injuries and transfers and the onboarding of new position coach Will Friend, Theus could have a chance to make a mark soon. Adding Theus' name to the list also boosts Georgia's standing in the eyes of other targets, who may find themselves agreeing with the blue chipper that Mark Richt's seat isn't quite as hot as we've been told.
