Update: Officially out for the year.
Arkansas Razorbacks RB Knile Davis, a genuine Heisman Trophy contender and maybe the most exciting player in the SEC, suffered a severe left leg injury at practice Thursday night that might put at least part of his season in jeopardy. A Fayetteville TV station reports it's a broken ankle, while a radio station calls it a torn ACL.
Multiple observers of that practice have reported feeling shaken after the injury. QB Tyler Wilson said he had to work to get his teammates back on point after what they witnessed. No matter what the injury is, it's serious and sad, and college football may have lost one of its biggest stars for the season, which sucks for everybody. After the jump, one really unsettling note.
According to some Arkansas people I just spoke with, Knile Davis' scream was "so loud it will haunt us in our dreams." (quote from source)
Put it down here because, well, it's really hard to read that and not feel a little queasy. This wasn't the only anecdote of this kind, either. Keep in mind those are Arkansas people, not regular people, and Arkansas people are conditioned to seeing things the rest of us just aren't quite adjusted to.
Arkansas Expats will have updates as they're available, I'm sure, but for now everyone within the program is deferring to Bobby Petrino on what to make public about the injury, and he's keeping quiet. Players have been instructed not to say anything at all.
Ugh.
