Christian Robinson, Alec Ogletree Injuries Have Shawn Williams Playing Linebacker

Down two linebackers for another handful of weeks each, the Georgia Bulldogs have been working strong safety Shawn Williams at the depleted position. Injuries to Alec Ogletree, himself a converted safety, and Christian Robinson have made the spot one of need.

Williams isn't making too much of the move closer to the line, barely acknowledging his participation at linebacker even after being told Mark Richt had already made it known. He's apparently made a strong transition, which cornerback Brandon Boykin took as an opportunity to point out the relative intelligence of defensive backs, as quoted by Seth Emerson:

Coach Grantham was complimenting him, saying 'He's only been there for 30 minutes and he knows what to do.' And I was like, 'DBs are smart learners.' Everybody got mad.

In two games this year, Williams has 10 total tackles, including six against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
