College Football Rankings: LSU Has BlogPoll Ballot Going Retro

Feel like I could just trot out any of the rationales for last year's midseason BlogPoll ballots and they'd still stand. The LSU Tigers have the nation's best collection of wins (over the Oregon Ducks and Mississippi St. Bulldogs, both convincingly), and thus they're the simple No. 1. The middle is filled with Big 12 teams that score eleventy points per game but haven't beaten anybody. The Boise St. Broncos leapt into the top two, but have begun their slow descent out of the top 10. Could've just used last year's ballot, but with more FIU this time.

However, this year around, Boise's decline should go much more slowly. The Toledo Rockets aren't anything to get excited about, but they're better than most of the teams Boise State has usually played, and the Mountain West will provide more of a challenge than the WAC ever could.

And, just like last year, we're slower to rank either Peach State team than the AP is. Wins this week could do it. Georgia Tech foe North Carolina has a respectable resume and shows up at No. 24, while Georgia's losses are to two of my top-six teams.

This week's ballot, which is as inconsistent and flailing as ever:
