The finishing touches have been put on the NCAA football season with the crowning of a national champion. The final word on college football rankings was given on Tuesday with the release of the final polls and standings.
The Georgia Bulldogs were one of five SEC teams to finish in the top 25 in the final AP poll, which comes to us courtesy of Sports Illustrated, but they were the only SEC team to make the list and not appear in the final top 10. After dropping a tough overtime loss in the Outback Bowl to Michigan State, the Bulldogs slipped in the final poll, although only down one slot from their previous No. 18 ranking.
SEC competitors Alabama, LSU and Arkansas placed at Nos. 1, 2 and 5 respectively. South Carolina clocked in at No. 9, up from No. 10 in the previous AP poll.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets received no AP top 25 votes in the final poll.
