Sanders Commings Arrested On Domestic Violence Charges

Bulldogs starting CB Sanders Commings has been arrested on charges of domestic violence early Saturday morning. He is believed to have physically struck a woman he is in a relationship with.

University of Georgia starting CB Sanders Commings was arrested on Saturday morning on charges of domestic violence, according to a report by Chip Tyler of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Limited details of the incident are available at this time, but Commings is believed to have physically struck a woman he is in a relationship with, according to a statement from UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson.

Willamson offered this statement regarding the incident:

"The only thing I can tell you is he was arrested for domestic violence/simple battery. Officers were patrolling the downtwon area and were flagged down by people on the side of the road. These were third-party people involved in the incident. Talking with them there was some kind of interaction between [Commings] and a woman and they intervened. At some point in time he struck her. Based on the witness staements and interviews with the involved parties, that's why he was arrested. We have several witnesses."

Commings, who has played in every game but one in the past three seasons, recorded a team-best 12 pass breakups in 2011, and finished fourth on the team with 55 tackles. The Augusta, GA native is a former three-star recruit for the Bulldogs, and one of ten expected returning starters on the Georgia defense for 2012.
