2012 Georgia Football Recruiting: Dawgs Fighting Vandy For Josh Dawson

Tucker High School defense end Josh Dawson has long been committed to play for Vanderbilt next fall, but told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Georgia is now in a dead heat with the Commodores for his letter of intent come National Signing Day:

"I’m still committed to Vanderbilt but … it’s just a tight race between Vanderbilt and Georgia right now," Dawson told the AJC on Sunday night. "I’d say they are both on top. I’m just going to have to weigh my options out. I’m going to make my final decision on where I’m going to sign on Feb.1."

Dawson, a 6-foot-5, 229 lb. defense end for Tucker, is being recruiting for two different positions - an outside linebacker in UGA's 3-4, and a defensive end in Vandy's 4-3. He's cancelled a trip to South Carolina to "focus" on deciding between the Dores and Dawgs. He's rated as a four-star player by both Rivals and Scout.
