2013 Georgia Football Recruiting Needs: List Of Outgoing 2012 Players

Georgia's next recruiting class should be expected to include receivers, defensive backs and at least one big defensive lineman.

The Georgia Bulldogs have done a solid job of keeping talent coming into Athens, though they've also had to deal with plenty of attrition, as evidenced most recently by three Dream Teamers likely heading to JUCOs. As we look ahead to next year's recruiting class, here's a glance at the position groups the Dawgs will need to resupply. The number of departing players at each group, counting rising seniors and booted players:

Position Group Departing Returning

QB 7

RB 2 14

WR 5 11

TE 4

OL 18

DL 2 8

LB 5 18

DB 6 12

K/P 2 5
So expecting to see some wide receivers in this class would be a safe bet. Defensive line may look very slim, but remember Todd Grantham's 3-4 set often means linebackers rushing from the line of scrimmage. Still, with John Jenkins and maybe Kwame Geathers leaving, there's a big (big!) need.

Defensive back was a lightly recruited spot for the 2012 class, but that's going to change this year with so few returning and every starter leaving. One of Georgia's first three commits is four-star DB Tray Matthews, and they could be in the market for another 2012 DB.

Those departing players, by the way:

93 Abry Jones DE
18 Bacarri Rambo FS
1 Branden Smith CB
30 Carlton Thomas TB
45 Christian Robinson ILB
83 Cornelius Washington OLB
24 Jamel Allen OLB
99 Jamie Lindley K
6 John Jenkins NG
15 Marlon Brown SE
35 Michael Gilliard ILB
17 Rantavious Wooten FLK
22 Richard Samuel IV RB
88 Ricky Lowe OLB
19 Sanders Commings CB
91 Scott Eichler PK
36 Shawn Williams SS
12 Tavarres King FLK
80 Taylor Bradberry FLK
69 Ty Frix SN

That won't necessarily be all, as QB Aaron Murray, LB Jarvis Jones and DE Kwame Geathers are among the rising juniors who could find themselves highly regarded by NFL scouts. Plus we shouldn't be surprised to see at least one more player add himself to the outgoing list for reasons other than NFL Draft early entry, so to speak.
