Steven Nelson Becomes Sixth Georgia Commit, Third Defensive Back

The Georgia Bulldogs have a shortcoming at defensive back after losing a pair from the secondary already this offseason. They know this at least as well as you do, and their 2013 recruiting class is already addressing the issue. The latest commit, JUCO transfer Steven Nelson, tells Scout he expects to play corner and return punts after enrolling in December.

UGA wants him to redshirt, but that remains to be seen.

Nelson was named an All-Middle Georgia return man at Warner Robins' Northside and an all-region defensive back, at one point being listed as a Carson-Newman signee before playing for the College of the Sequoias in California as a freshman. He's listed as recording 29 tackles, two picks, six pass break-ups, and 107 yards on two kick returns for the Giants.

He describes himself as a lifelong UGA fan, with Houston and Middle Tennessee also offering. Cal, Utah, and Colorado were also reportedly interested.

The list of Georgia's 2013 commits, at least until Shaq Wiggins gazes down at Nick Saban's face:

Brice Ramsey QB 4 6'3, 197 Kingsland, GA
