The Pittsburgh Steelers announced in late-February that they would release the former Georgia Bulldogs star. Ward did respond to the news of his release with this statement.
"I do feel that I still have more football left in me and I am looking forward to playing in the NFL, again, this upcoming season."
Ward caught 46 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns in 2011, which showed his lowest receiving yards total since his rookie season. Ward averaged a career-low in yards per catch last season, with just 8.2.
