Georgia Spring Football 2012: Isaiah Crowell Opens Practice As No. 1 Running Back

When we last saw Isaiah Crowell he was limping off of the Georgia Dome turf with an ankle injury as boos were coming down from the Bulldog faithful. After that day and the signings of two blue chip running back recruits many questioned whether Crowell would be with the Bulldogs by the time that spring practice opened.

As spring practice began on Tuesday, Crowell is still a Bulldog and opens as the Dawgs' No. 1 running back.

"There's a lot of pride [in that]. I want to be the one who starts, and I want to help out all the new guys. That's the reason that I was glad I was the first one out."

It wasn't like Crowell was a complete bust as a freshman finishing with 850 yards but as the season went along it seemed that he was becoming less and less reliable for Georgia whether because of injury or because of suspension. In 2012 Georgia needs a full season from Crowell and with a crowded depth chart including two top freshman in Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley, Crowell could be out of chances.
