Zach Mettenberger Shines In LSU Spring Game

Former University of Georgia quarterback Zach Mettenberger formally took his place as the starting quarterback of the LSU Tigers as he helped Team Purple to a 24-17 win in the annual spring game. In a little more than a half of action, Mettenberger threw for 270 yards, two touchdowns to go along with two interceptions.

For those scoring at home, it was Mettenberger who was supposed to enter into a quarterback competition with Aaron Murray prior to the 2010 season before he was dismissed after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual battery which occurred while he was on spring break in Valdosta.

Mettenberger spent a season at Butler community college before signing on with LSU. Mettenberger was used sparingly by the Tigers in 2011 completing 8-11 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. It looks like he will enter the fall as the clear cut No. 1 but the Tigers will not play the Bulldogs during the 2012 season.
