The annual spring showcase for Georgia Football is set for today at 3pm and will be streamed live online by ESPN3. There have been many storylines throughout Georgia's spring practice and many will lead directly into the fall. The biggest storyline of the spring was once again suspensions to several key defensive players.
Sanders Commings' two-game suspension has already been announced and Brandan Smith is expected to receive a one-game ban as well. In addition to that is the rumored suspensions of safety Bacarri Rambo and linebacker Alec Ogletree which have not been announced by the school yet but have been heavily reported. The suspensions of Commings, Smith and Rambo will put Georgia without three quarters of its projected starting secondary.
Its been a relatively quite spring for sophomore running back Isaiah Crowell after an up and down 2011 season. Mark Richt and company should be just fine with Crowell and the other running backs flying under the radar for a period of time. One of the key figures in the backfield won't be playing in the G-Day game as freshman Keith Marshall is out with a hamstring injury. Expect the running back position to once again step to the forefront of discussions when fall practice begins.
In addition to Marshall several other key players will sit out today's G-Day game with converted cornerback Malcolm Mitchell headlining the group. Safety Shawn Williams is also out with a knee injury that has been deemed not serious. That will give opportunities to a host of new comers who could be put in key situations in the game today.
