The Georgia Bulldogs basketball team will open in the upcoming season against Jacksonville University, an Atlantic Sun team that went 8-22 overall last season. Georgia also signed a contract to play in the National Invitation Tournament in 2014.
Georgia last played in the tournament in the opening rounds games in West Lafayette, Ind. 2008-09 season when it played and two consolation games in Athens.
Jacksonville will receive $85,000 for the game in Athens this season. Georgia is 8-0 in the series, winning the last meeting 93-77 on Dec. 19, 2006.
The tournament has a 16-team format and the Bulldogs are guaranteed to play in four games. There are four sites for the tournament, while the final round will be played at Madison Square Garden.
Last season the Bulldogs went 15-17 overall, 5-11 in the SEC, finishing in 10th place in the league.
