The BCS is dead and that is a good thing. Reports indicate that the BCS is prepared to endorse a four-team playoff for college football's national championship. While many details remain to be worked out the new proposal calls for the playoff to begin in 2014.
Proposals for 16 and eight team playoffs have been scrapped as the BCS isn't interested in anything involving more than four teams. How those four teams are determined remains to be seen and a conference champion requirement hasn't been ruled out. Such a rule would rule out an all SEC final situation like we had this season.
There are more unanswered questions than there are answers at this point but it appears that everyone is on board. There won't be any special considerations made to the Rose Bowl so it appears that the Big 10 and Pac 12 are on board.
A new day is coming in college football and it is one that I thought we might not ever see.
