The University of Georgia football team has not officially reacted to the arrest of Isaiah Crowell on weapons charges, however, the school and team discipline policies, which are public, are pretty clear about the fate of the sophomore running back (courtesy of the AJC):
According to the UGA Student-Athlete handbook, a felony arrest means "immediate suspension from athletic competition." A "Comprehensive Action Plan Committee," consisting of UGA athletic administrators and the Faculty Athletics Representative, will then investigate and review the facts and forward a disciplinary recommendation to the athletic director. Recommendations include "dismissal from the team, suspension from competition, reduction in aid and/or cancellation of athletic aid."
Georgia is somewhat famous in college football for its stiff penalties on drug use and repeat violators of any rule, however, there's no clear policy in place regarding Crowell's previous two suspensions in 2011 (one rumored to be a failed drug test).
No matter what, his rocky history in such a short time on campus certainly compounds matters, and with reports indicating that officers smelled marijuana when Crowell was stopped, there's a good chance he could be considered a repeat violator of the student athlete drug policy. Senior corner Bacarri Rambo will miss four games this season after two comparatively minor brushes with marjiuana, so things don't look good for Crowell.
