Defensive line recruit John Atkins is the second member of Georgia's 2012 recruiting class that won't qualify academically for the upcoming season. Atkins took the ACT last month but was recently notified by the NCAA Clearinghouse that he did not meet the requirements.
Atkins will head to prep school and enroll at Hargrave Military Academy where he hopes to get his academics in order so that he can enroll at Georgia in January. Atkins will be joined by fellow 2012 signee Leonard Floyd who also didn't qualify and will also attend Hargrave in the fall.
The other 17 players that the Bulldogs signed are on campus and preparing for the start of preseason practice in August. Due to roster attrition the Bulldogs are expected to add more than 30 players to the roster this fall.
