Here's a piece of good news in the offseason about a Georgia defender: While several (several) UGA defensive players have faced issues with the law, Jarvis Jones was named to Blue Ribbon Yearbook's preseason All-America team. He joins seven other SEC players on the first team.
A native of Columbus, Jones was a unanimous first-team All-American following the 2011 season after he led the SEC in both sacks (13.5) and tackles for loss (19.5). Last season marked his first playing for the Bulldogs after he transferred from Southern Cal and then redshirted the 2010 campaign.
Despite the numerous off-field problems and subsequent suspensions, the Dawgs were picked by Blue Ribbon to win the SEC Eastern Division and return to Atlanta for the SEC Championship in December.
