UGA Football Preseason: Josh Harvey-Clemons Working At Safety

The first day of practice brought a little bit of a surprise as highly touted recruit Josh Harvey-Clemons began the first day of fall practice working at safety. Bulldogs coaches had previously indicated that Harvey-Clemons would be playing as a linebacker although defensive coordinator Todd Grantham later said that he could work as somewhat of a hybrid safety/linebacker combo.

Safety could be an area of need for the Bulldogs particularly in the early going when several defensive starters including starting free safety Bacarri Rambo are expected to be suspended.

For what it is worth, Todd Grantham is known to move players around so cross training isn't unusual at any position on the defensive side of the football. Harvey-Clemons is listed at 6-foot-5, 207 pounds by the school's official website which could be a little slender for the linebacker position.
