UGA Fall Practice 2012: Running Back Job Still Wide Open

The race to replace Isaiah Crowell as the team's starting quarterback has started and thus far there hasn't been much separation. Richard Samuel and Ken Malcome are currently at the top of the depth chart in large part due to their experience but Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley are also getting repetitions with the No. 1 offense.

Mark Richt said that the team will eventually shuffle the depth chart at running back but nothing is imminent as of now.

"I don't know when and where, if (the depth chart is) going to move around," Richt said. "Usually we'll at least wait until we have a day in pads or we'll wait until after the scrimmage to re-rack it a little bit."

Samuel is also working at fullback and where he ultimately ends up has a lot to do with how Marshall and Gurley perform at tailback. If the Bulldogs are comfortable with Malcome along with the two freshman then Samuel may begin to see more time at fullback.
