Georgia Football Preseason: Mark Richt Updates Plan For Malcolm Mitchell

Head coach Mark Richt recently talked about wide receiver turned defensive back Malcolm Mitchell and gave an update on the plan for Mitchell as the team prepares for its season opener against Buffalo.

Mitchell is primarily working at defense in the early part of camp but Richt indicated that about 10 days prior to the season opener against Buffalo that Mitchell would start to get integrated into the offense.

"We're not going to expect him to play every play, but I do want him to be available to play offense as early as the first game," Richt said. "As the season rolls on, I think that will increase."

Mitchell has already drawn praise for his work at corner in the spring and the fall. He is willing to do whatever the team needs to help it be successful.

"I expect Sanders (Commings) to come back and play his spot that he's been playing for a couple of years," Mitchell said. "I'm stepping into help. If the coaches want me to stay there, I'll stay there."
