Despite being committed to the Georgia Bulldogs for about a year now, Shaq Wiggins, a 5'9, 160-pound cornerback out of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Ga., is still scheduling official visits to SEC rivals. Among those are the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Florida Gators.
Wiggins will make an official visit to Georgia next weekend, visit South Carolina on Jan. 11, Florida Jan. 18 and the Mississippi Rebels Jan. 25. Wiggins claims that he is still committed to the Bulldogs despite going on these official visits.
Wiggins is ranked as the No. 87 overall prospect in the nation according to ESPN. He overcomes his lack of size with his athleticism and his aggressive style of play. His high school coach believes his size is a non-factor:
"I think this whole thing about size is a little overrated," Sandy Creek coach Chip Walker said. "If they can cover, they can cover. Shaq can cover."
Currently the Bulldogs have 30 players committed for the 2013 period. At least two of these players are slated to play at cornerback.
