Although the game is still 10 days away, Georgia has named its captains for its SEC battle against Kentucky. Included in the group is Josh Harvey-Clemons, who is the captain of the special teams.
Although it is rare for a true freshman to be a captain, head coach Mark Richt believed he deserved it, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"It’s rare that a true freshman becomes a captain, but the staff and I felt he did the best," Richt said. "Every special team he was on, he excelled and had a winning grade. All of the coaches were saying how excellent he played. It is really hard to become a captain as a freshman, especially true freshman, but he earned this and I’m proud of him."
Coming into the season, Rivals.com rated Harvey-Clemons the top recruit from Georgia.
The other captains for the game include guard Chris Burnette, and defenders John Jenkins and Abry Jones.
