Georgia O-line looks to gain experience from South Carolina loss

The Georgia Bulldogs may have been blown out on the line against South Carolina, but they can use that experience to improve going forward. That's what John Theus and Kenarious Gates look to do against Kentucky.

The Georgia offensive line is looking to apply some hard lessons learned at the hands of the South Carolina Gamecocks in their upcoming game against the Kentucky Wildcats, reports Chip Towers at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Pressure from South Carolina's line decimated Georgia's offense, leading to career lows for quarterback Aaron Murray.

Murray was sacked twice by the South Carolina defense, and went 11-for-31 for 109 yards. 10 of those incompletions came directly from Gamecocks breaking up the pass. The end result was Georgia's first defeat of the season, but freshman tackle John Theus is looking forward. As he told the Journal-Constitution:

"That game's over. We looked at the film and we learned from it and we're ready to go on to the next game. We've all moved on. We're preparing for Kentucky now."

Junior left tackle Kenarious Gates had a similar viewpoint, and he talked about the experience he gained from facing Jadeveon Clowney all night.

"It was a great experience. He's a great player. You're going against one of the best D-ends in the SEC. You've to got to give him credit. He's strong, quick off the line. He opened my eyes to what I need to do to get better and the things I need to work on. We gave each other good competition out there."

Gates' comments were echoed by Murray, who commented that the team remained confident and would be ready for Kentucky. The Wildcats are 1-4 this season and are coming off a 27-14 loss to Mississippi State that saw them collect no sacks. In the three games before that, though, the Wildcats totaled eight sacks.
