The initial BCS rankings came out late Sunday night and the Georgia Bulldogs checked in at No. 11.
The Bulldogs were ranked 12th in the Harris Poll, 12th in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and had an average ranking of 17th in the computer rankings. That combined for an average score of .4980 which put Georgia solidly at No. 12.
Georgia is one of seven SEC teams ranked in the top 25 including six in the top 12. Alabama and Florida are atop the rankings with the Gators actually coming in ahead of Alabama in the computer portion of the poll. LSU checked in at No. 6 with South Carolina one spot behind the Tigers at No. 7. Mississippi State is one spot behind Georgia at No. 12 while Texas A&M is No. 18 in the initial poll.
At 5-1, Georgia is the fifth highest one-loss team. The top five teams in the BCS rankings are undefeated.
