Georgia vs. Kentucky: Mark Richt ready for another close fight with Wildcats

It's never pretty when Georgia has to face division rival Kentucky, and even though the Wildcats are 1-6, Mark Richt is expecting another tough outing.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt addressed a variety of topics concerning the Bulldogs' return to the field this Saturday at Kentucky during his weekly press conference. Georgia is coming off a bye week following a loss to South Carolina. The 35-7 beat down in Columbia has likely jettisoned UGA out of the national title picture, but there's a real concern in 1-6 Kentucky, as Lexington has never been kind to the Bulldogs.

Recent history hasn't been pretty: The Dawgs escaped with a 19-10 win last season at home and a 44-31 finish in 2010 that followed a huge 34-27 upset by the WIldcats in Athens in 2009. Kentucky also upset the Dawgs in Lexington back in 2006:

"We’re looking forward to going to that ballgame. We haven’t had the best of luck out there in Lexington with some very close ballgames. I have a lot of respect for Coach Phillips, and he really does a great job."

While it's highly likely that the seemingly inept Wildcats of 2012 will provide the same kind of challenge as in years past, Richt can relate to UK head coach Joker Phillips' embattled run this year, having just fought down hot seat rumors himself after starting 0-2 in 2011.

"Well people have asked me those types of questions before, and especially last season when we go 0-2, so I think somebody addressed that question in regard to me and how we’re doing at Georgia. My answer was that I don’t expect anybody to feel sorry for me. I expect everybody to hook it up and play the very best that they can play. I expect everybody to watch film and get the best plan possible and try to exploit whatever can then be exploited and play 60 minutes as hard and as fast as you can play against anybody you play. So I’m sure that’s how all of the coaches feel in the league."
