2012 SEC Football Standings: Georgia clinches SEC East with win over Auburn

The Georgia Bulldogs clinched the SEC East with a victory over Auburn on Saturday.

The Georgia Bulldogs clinched the SEC East Saturday with a victory over the Auburn Tigers. The Bulldogs and Florida Gators finished tied for 1st in division, but the Bulldogs hold the tiebreaker due to their victory over the Gators two weeks ago. With Florida having finished their conference schedule the week before, the Bulldogs only needed to take care of business against the Tigers to book their trip to the SEC title game in Atlanta.

Alabama's loss to Texas A&M also means the Bulldogs don't know their SEC championship game opponent just yet. The Aggies can still win the SEC West with a win against the Missouri Tigers in two weeks and an Crimson Tide loss to Auburn. An Alabama loss to Auburn seems less than likely considering the Tigers are 0-7 in conference play this year.

South Carolina finished conference play 3rd in the SEC East behind Florida, while LSU currently sits a half a game behind Texas A&M for 2nd in the West. The Tigers finish their conference schedule the day after Thanksgiving against Arkansas.
