Early in the season, a concern for the Georgia Bulldogs was their defense. That defense allowed more than 20 points in six of their first seven games, including 44 points in a win over Tennessee and 35 points in a loss to South Carolina. However, the Bulldogs have allowed only 19 points total in their last three games.
As Tim Tucker of the Atlanta Journal-Constitutional writes, defensive coordinator Todd Grantham has taken note of his team's defensive improvement in recent weeks after the Bulldogs' 38-0 victory over the Auburn Tigers.
"We've got a lot of prideful guys, but also I think we've got some guys that have gotten better and more comfortable in the way they're playing over these few weeks. I think the combination of the pride and work ethic these guys have (and) the ability to stay the course, that's the key thing."
Grantham added that even though things were tough for his defense early in the season, it was important to stay the course and not panic. The Bulldogs will have two more opportunities to build on their defensive improvements before the SEC title game. They take on Georgia Southern this Saturday before facing Georgia Tech the day after Thanksgiving.
