Steven Nelson, who committed to play for the Georgia Bulldogs last February, has reportedly backed off of his commitment, and no longer plans to play for Mark Richt next season.

"Steven did de-commit from Georgia but he has not committed anywhere else right now," Fred Zepeda, the defensive backs coach at the College of Sequoias junior college, told the AJC.

According to Nelson's coach, a lack of communication between Georgia and Nelson strained the relationship, and eventually led to Nelson breaking off his commitment to Georgia. Per the AJC, Nelson and Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham barely communicated.

Nelson's decision will reportedly come down to Oregon State and Texas Tech, and the defensive back recently visited the Beavers facility in October. Nelson will reportedly decide between the two schools sometime before Christmas.

Rated as the No. 2 defensive back from junior colleges by 247sports, Nelson's loss will hurt Georgia's 2013 recruiting class, but it could potentially help Georgia's chances in recruiting other defensive backs.

Regardless, Nelson's decision to back off his commitment is not what Richt or Bulldogs fans wanted to hear.
