The younger members of the Georgia Bulldogs' defense are rising to the occasion, writes Seth Emerson at the Macon Telegraph. With star linebacker Jarvis Jones and other veterans possibly turning pro following the 2012 season, the Bulldogs are likely to have some significant defensive needs next year.
Sophomore cornerback Damian Swann is one of the players who will look to step up. He has two interceptions on the year, 3.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks. He also had two fumble recoveries in Georgia's win over Ole Miss, which he took back for a combined 49 yards.
Freshman outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins is another player with a lot of potential. He has three sacks this season and has earned his way to a significant increase in playing time. Georgia's leading tackler is Amarlo Herrera, a sophomore linebacker who also has an interception and a fumble recovery.
Georgia has at least seven defensive players who will leave the program after this season, with juniors Jones, Alec Ogletree and Kwame Geathers all eligible to declare for the draft.
