The Eastern Washington Eagles -- yes, the team with the red turf field -- beat the defending champion Villanova Wildcats 41-31 to advance to the FCS National Championship Game. Nova was able to keep the scoreboard dials turning (this is FCS football), but a marvelous six Nova turnovers crushed any hopes of a repeat title game apperance.
↵EWU QB Bo Levi Mitchell led the way with 292 yards through the air, backed up by RB Mario Brown's 105 on the ground.
↵If the Georgia Southern Eagles can get past Delaware's surgical passing game tomorrow at noon, they'll get to take on EWU. Minus that blood-red home field advantage, too. And if you don't think it helps, might I remind you how many times and with what exasperating randomness Villanova turned the ball over tonight? And who wouldn't want to see Eagles vs. Eagles for the title, Commie?
↵(Holiday bonus: the Mrs. declared it Gingerbread House Night at our place while the game was on, so I cranked out a Gingerbread Eastern Washington Stadium.)
