Georgia Southern Head Coach Jeff Monken plans to sign around 25 players Wednesday morning. Major needs for the 2011 class are along the offensive and defensive lines, in the defensive backfield, and at running back.
The class got an early boost earlier this month with the transfers of Ole Miss FB Martez Eastland and Western Kentucky DL Korentheus Bailey. Both players are currently enrolled in classes at Georgia Southern and will participate in spring practice.
As far as the rest of the incoming class, keeping track of recruiting at the FCS level is a crapshoot at best, and the Eagles’ coaching staff prefers to keep things close to the vest. Reports have the number of current commitments anywhere from 1 (Rivals) to 19 (compiling message board rumors).
The following is a list of current targets, compiled from Rivals, Scout, ESPN, and general Google skills. This will certainly not be a fully inclusive list, but I would expect that the majority of the final signings on Wednesday will be from this group.
Keep in mind that a late offer from an FBS school will almost always draw a recruit away. Due to this fact, I am hesitant to list any recruits as committed until the LOI is in.
This list will be updated on NSD as the faxes come in.
