Georgia Southern Vs. Furman Final Score: No. 1 Eagles Cruise

The Georgia Southern Eagles left no doubt in their sixth straight win of the season, downing rival Furman, 50-20, to reach 5-0 in the SoCon.

Johnathan Bryant's 95 yards led GSU's 361 yards worth of rushing, while Jaybo Shaw threw for 171 yards in only nine attempts. He completed six passes to six different receivers. By my count, 13 Eagles touched the ball on offense. Distribution.

Furman amassed 408 yards, including 293 through the air, but GSU stood tall when it counted. Star defensive tackle Brent Russell blocked a Paladins extra point attempt that Laron Scott returned for two Eagles points. FCS football, y'all.

Up next for Southern: the 2-4 Presbyterian Blue Hose of the Big South, who'll head to Statesboro after topping Gardner-Webb, 28-14. Expect the Eagles to pick up even more first-place votes this week after a convincing victory.
